In 2003, James Tickal was a University of Central Florida junior studying to be a veterinarian when he decided to follow in the footsteps of several family members who served in the miliatry. He enlisted in the Army and started out as a medic on the front lines in Iraq. Though he originally planned to serve for just a few years, Tickal reinlisted in 2006, went to Germany, finished his degree in psychology and became a medical officer.

During his 12 year military service, he always enjoyed talking with and listening to the men he served with.

"I always liked helping people," said Tickal. "Everything kept pulling me to counseling."

Tickal went on to complete his Masters in Social Work at USF and recently started private practice with his wife, Dr. Jenn Tickal, Clinical Psychologist. The two first met while in Officer Candidate School in San Antonio, Texas.

Restore and Renew Counseling and Consulting offers services for anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, PTSD, stress management, marital conflicts, cognitive issues, chronic pain, career counseling and more.

Jenn Tickal specializes in adults and is passionate about helping veterans, and James Tickal works with both adults and children.
