Apollo Beach's Waterset welcomes new chef at The Landing Cafe

The Landing Cafe at Waterset welcomes new manager and chef Joe Gregory.

Gregory previously owned a Tampa-based catering company.

In the short time since Gregory started, he's added specialty food nights, extended operating hours and put an emphasis on made-from-scratch recipes and freshly-prepared meals with local ingredients. Gregory also has brought in an increased focus on dishes that don't contain preservatives, hormones or glutens.

"I'm very excited to bring my vision and skills to Waterset," Gregory said. "The community has really welcomed me and the updates that have been made. My goal is to bring value to the residents and ensure that everyone who comes to The Landing Café has an enjoyable experience.

"We want to make the café convenient so that residents don't have to leave the community to dine if they don't want to."

Gregory extended the cafe's hours to 8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and added pizza nights every Friday. Pizza nights feature handmade dough and toppings. The cafe serves brunch on Saturdays and will schedule monthly family events.

The cafe also works to eliminate its environmental footprint and will replace plastic utensils and straws in favor of ones made of wood and paper. The cafe will also use compostable paper plates made from reclaimed palm fronds.

The Landing Café is open to the public and offers a selection of coffees, smoothies and baked goods, as well as breakfast entrees, sandwiches, salads, flatbreads and quesadillas. Beer and wine is also served. It's open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
