Most teens find sun-soaked days and fun-filled nights on Clearwater Beach.
Seffner's Skyler Clark found a music career.
Clark blossomed as an athlete on the youth sports fields in Antioch in East Hillsborough, and dedicated a lot of time to baseball and football at Armwood High School before transferring to Seffner Christian Academy. Yet his interest in music also rose during those days.
"Way back when, I used to go to Pier 60 in Clearwater and play on the wall for tips, then performing at open mics," Clark said. "I started getting hired for shows and then went to Nashville and started recording and writing music."
Now Clark will partner with Lombardo Real Estate to perform at a free concert from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday (Aug. 18) at Franklin Manor, 912 N Franklin in downtown Tampa. The real estate company bills the event as "Lombardo brings country to the city," and Clark appears to be well-equipped to do just that.
Whether it be a song someone partied to or listened to when going through a break-up, Clark wanted to make music that would mean something to people. Now he's delivering on that goal and will perform songs from latest EP, released in January, plus songs yet to be released.
Attendees will have access to the kitchen, bar and valet for the night. Live entertainment continues throughout the remainder of the evening after Clark's set concludes.
For each guest that registers on Eventbrite and brings their ticket to the event, Lombardo Real Estate will donate $5 to New Beginnings of Tampa. New Beginnings of Tampa provides veterans with secure housing, nutritional meals, basic physical health care, substance abuse care and aftercare, mental health counseling, personal development and empowerment.
"Everyone knows someone who is a veteran," Clark said. "They sacrifice so much and sometimes they need help."
Clark said he's looking forward to performing at Lombardo Real Estate's annual event. He considers them good friends.
"There's not a better group of people," Clark said. "The event is for a good cause, but also a great night."
Attendees can present their ticket to the greeting staff at Franklin Manor. Be sure to bring a photo ID. This is a free event that is open to the public, but a a ticket does not reserve a space the night of the vent.
