The Village Players will host their dinner theater premier of Moon Over Buffalo 8 p.m. on Friday (Aug. 3) at the James McCabe Theater, 506 5th St. Doors open at 7 p.m. for dinner guests.
The hilarious Moon Over Buffalo centers on George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950s. At the moment, they are playing Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac in rep in Buffalo with 5 actors.
On the brink of a disastrous split-up caused by George's dalliance with a young ingénue, they receive word that they might just have one last shot at stardom. Frank Capra is coming to town to see their matinee, and if he likes what he sees, he might cast them in his movie remake of The Scarlet Pimpernel.
Unfortunately for George and Charlotte, everything that could go wrong does go wrong. The duo receives a visit from their daughter's clueless fiancé. They face hilarious uncertainty about which play they're actually performing, caused by Charlotte's deaf old stage manager mother who hates George.
Regular show dates include Saturday (Aug. 4), Aug. 10, Aug. 11, Aug. 17, Aug. 18, which all start at 8 p.m. The show will also have two matinee performances at 3 p.m. on Sunday (Aug. 5) and 12.
Admission is $35 for the dinner theater and advanced reservation is required. Admission for all other performances is $18 and $15 for students, seniors and military with ID. Groups of more than 10 can reserve seating in advance.
