Husband and wife Alexey and Rhonda Petrov planned to open just a martial arts studio 12 years ago, but as it became a staple in the Westchase community, their business expanded and evolved.

"We saw there was a big demand for an after-school program," said Alexey Petrov.

Enrollment continues to grow, so the Petrovs wanted to expand the size of their studio. Recently, they were about to take over an adjacent space when a client told Alexey about another nearby property that had just become available.

He went to take a look and immediately knew it was the perfect place.

In early July, Westchase Impact Martial Arts opened the doors to its 6,000-square-foot studio, which is three times the size of the former location.

There is a large area with mats and equipment where classes are held for adults, teens, kids and families. Private classes and Krav Maga classes are also offered.

The after-school program offers transportation from Mary Bryant, Westchase, Deer Park, Lowry and Forest Lakes elementary schools.

Students receive daily martial arts, physical games and exercise. There is a separate room where students have homework and study time in a structured environment, and there is a game room with Legos, air hockey and more.

Birthday parties, parents night out and camps are also available.

Westchase Impact Martial Arts is at 13038 Race Track Road. For more information, call (813) 600-5260, or visit westchaseIMA.com.
