The sixth annual Turn Up Dance Battle runs from noon to 4 p.m. on June 30 at the University Area Community Center, 14013 N 22nd St. Registration will run from 11 a.m. to noon.
There will be solo and group battles and all styles of dance are welcome. There will also be awards for top finishes. Dancers from across west central Florida are able to register.
For registering both individual dancers or multiple dancers, participants must visit the registration page on eventbrite.com.
The event will be held by the University Area Community Development Corporation's Prodigy program, which is a research-based prevention and diversion program for at-risk youth ages 5-18. Prodigy uses visual and performing arts as a way to help young people develop life skills such as communication, leadership, problem solving, anger management, career aspirations and goal setting.
Celebrating its 20th year of serving the community, the UACDC offers support for thousands of Tampa residents through youth programs such as Prodigy Cultural Arts, adult education and resource assistance. Its primary mission is the redevelopment and sustainability of the at-risk areas surrounding University of South Florida's Tampa campus.
The event is free to participate.
All dancers must RSVP to participate in this free event for ages six to 18. To register, call (813) 558-5212 ext. 313 or email mtrepper@uacdc.org or visit bit.ly/DanceBattleReg. For more information, visit uacdc.org/prodigy or uacdc.org.
