Newborn baby Lyric Love Robinson received a unique gift for Valentine's Day - tickets for life to the Florida State Fair, where her mother gave birth to her right on the Midway on Feb. 9.
Kesha Martin and her husband, Lavaron Robinson, were watching their children ride rides at the fair when Martin's water suddenly broke.
"I was just like, oh my gosh, I'm going to have my baby at the fair," Martin told WTSP-Ch. 10. "That's the only thing that was coming through my head. I just wanted her to be healthy."
Hillsborough County Sheriff's Deputies Robert Ramirez and Henry Echenique were nearby when they heard Martin asking for help. They were able to help Robinson deliver baby Lyric safely, despite the fact that the birth happened on the main fairway near the busy Expo Hall.
According to a press release, Deputy Echenique caught the child and held her until EMS arrived. Eight other deputies assisted with the delivery, and Martin and her new baby were brought to St. Joseph's Women's Hospital in stable condition.
On Feb. 14, the family returned to the fair, where they were presented with a gift basket and tickets for life by Florida State Fair Executive Director Cheryl Flood and the two deputies who helped deliver Lyric.
Only two days remain for this year's Florida State Fair. Special events Sunday (Feb. 18) include a chance to meet Wanda and Cosmo from the Fairly Odd Parents, starting at 11 a.m., lawn mower races at 1 p.m. and Latin band Aramis y Sol Caribe at 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
