The "We Remember Andrew Joseph III Memorial Weekend" will feature a series of events starting Thursday (Feb. 8) and running through Saturday (Feb. 10).

The weekend is built around the death of Joseph, who was struck and killed by a car on Interstate 4 in 2014 after being ejected, along with 98 other students, from the Florida State Fair on the night of Student Day.

His parents contend Joseph, an honor student at St. Stephen Catholic School, was mistakenly punished as part of a group of students causing mayhem at the fair that night. In 2016, it filed a lawsuit against the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, the school district and the fair, alleging they're responsible for the death of their son

The weekend kicks off on Thursday (Feb. 8) with a Memorial Light Brigade on the U.S. 301/Interstate 4 overpass. It continues on Friday (Feb. 9) with the Student Day Protest-&-Vigil, gathering at the Wing House, 5003 U.S. 301.

On Saturday (Feb. 10), a Healing in the Arts event will be held at 4 p.m. at the Portico, 1001 N Florida Ave. The event will be hosted by Wally B. and there will be performances by Dynasty, Venus Blue, Dennis Amadeus and more. A $20 donation will be welcomed at Healing in the Arts, with proceeds going to the Andrew Joseph III Memorial Foundaton "AJ Soars." The nonprofit organization is dedicated to making the community events safer for children.

The family invites supporters to join them at the weekend events to remember Andrew and share some healing and good vibes.
